From October 2022, we will be starting a Rapid Access Endoscopy Service at Tamara Private Hospital.
This allows new patients to be directly placed on an Endoscopy list without the need for a clinic consultation.
This service is provided without a gap fee from Dr Pillay for privately insured patients at Tamara Private Hospital.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. Gastroenterologists diagnose and manage all diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract including organs from mouth into anus. Gastroenterologists perform a number of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including colonoscopy, gastroscopy and other advanced endoscopic procedures.
Hepatology is another branch that encompasses the study of the liver, pancreas, and biliary tree. Whilst called gastroenterologist in short, all gastroenterologists are trained in both aspects.
Conditions that gastroenterologists manage include but not limited to:
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
- Gastritis, gastric ulcers & H. pylori infection
- Coeliac disease & gluten sensitivity
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease & ulcerative colitis)
- Bowel cancer screening
- Liver cirrhosis
- Hepatitis
