Paediatrics

Paediatrics or paediatric medicine, is a broad specialty that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatricians work both in hospitals and in outpatient clinics and manage a wide variety of conditions across all organs and systems. General paediatricians often also manage behavioural and mental health issues in children, adolescents and even young adults. Whilst there is no set limitation to age, most paediatricians see patients up till the age of 18-20 before handing over to an adult physician.

Situations and conditions that Paediatricians manage include but not limited to:

  • Cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal and neurological diseases
  • Allergies and food intolerance
  • Moderate to severe asthma
  • ADHD and autistic spectrum disorders
  • Behavioural disturbances in children

Additional Information for Parents and Caregivers:

Given the complexity of the children we see and the involvement with multiple healthcare providers and services, parents who are on our waiting list are encouraged to fill out our Paediatrics Pre-Clinc Questionnaire to start the process of collecting the documentation required for your child.

Prior to your first appointment, parents will need to ensure that the Questionnaire is completed and the required documentations listed at the end of the questionnaire are made available to us prior to the appointment to reduce delays in diagnosis and management due to incomplete documentation.

If you have any enquires or need assistance in completeing these forms, please do not hesitate to email us at paediatrics@regionalspecialists.com.au or call us on (02) 6762 2321
